April 2026
Good evening to all. Wanted to give you an overview of last Thursday’s Got Your Six meeting. We began by honoring one of our own. Lt. Col. Matt Anker (and family) of the United States Marine Corps is leaving his reserve status and returning to active duty. He and his family will be moving in the middle of May. He will be stationed at Fort Meade in Maryland. We presented Matt and his Wife, Jodie, with Got Your Six Hoodies, Flowers, and a cut-metal Marine Corps emblem. After the presentation, we had a cake-cutting ceremony and enjoyed the cake. Sounds cheesy, I know, but it was really good. They have already found a home and pray for a smooth transition during their relocation. Hopefully, we’ll see them back at Life in about 4 years.

Vic Maynard, another GY6 member, shared his 40 years of service with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department. What a testimony. Vic was involved in 3 shootings, a wreck during a response that almost took his life, and marital issues on two different occasions. Being a first responder takes its toll on many families. Through it all, Vic has gotten on the other side through the Lord Jesus and is a champion for Christ. Thanks, Vic, for opening up and sharing with a large group such as GY6. Many need to hear this testimony.
The next meeting is Thursday, May 21st, at 6 pm. This will probably be the biggest event to date for GY6. We’ll meet across the parking lot at the Life House. Cookout with hot dogs, hamburgers, and all the trimmings. If it rains, we’ll still meet as we have a covered area to cook under. If the weather holds, we’ll set up outside with a table and chairs. Special patriotic music along with a message by Ryan Chambers. Ryan tours the nation with his dog, Chase, as he works for the U.S. Dept of Justice and the U.S. Dept of Homeland Security. I believe we’re in for a real treat. For those of you who can, we will be setting up that morning, beginning at 0900. To make this a success, we hope those of you who can will participate. Remember, we will honor the men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for this country. Please invite anyone you know who is a Veteran and a First Responder. We are here to minister to each other!!!!
