Samaritan’s Purse

Good Evening, Everyone.  Here is a recap from our Meeting tonight.

Jim Vechery gave an update on the missions Samaritan’s Purse has been involved in during the second half of 2025: 13 missions to Israel and nine missions to Jamaica for hurricane relief.  One of the missions to Jamaica they deliver a field hospital.  It’s been reported that this hospital has saved the lives of many in this hurricane-ravaged country.   I would also like to mention that Jim had been up since 0100 hours and came to the meeting.  He shared and then left to go home and get a few hours of rest before getting up again at 0100 for another launch.  He leads the only way that you can lead, by example.

Owen Farmer a Captain on the High Point Fire Department shared a very moving and inspirational testimony.  Back in December of last year, he collapsed at the Fire Station.  His collapse was due to brain cancer, which the doctors believe started in his lungs.  He and his wonderful wife came to Got Your Six, and we carpet bombed Heaven with prayer for him.  Throughout his journey, he spoke of several miracles, and the latest scan showed zero cancer. The power of Prayer is incredible.  He still has a small tumor in the lung, but this continues to get smaller.  One of the greatest miracles that took place was when Owen accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.  I wish you all could have been there to hear this.

My dear friend Shawn McGuire shared his experience as a Coast Guard rescue swimmer.  Shawn served in Florida and then went to Kodiak, Alaska, and answered calls in the Bering Sea. Talking about a change, wow!  If you’ve ever watched the movie “The Guardian,” the Bering Sea was portrayed in the beginning and the end of the movie.   Very dangerous water.  This is also where the TV series “Deadliest Catch”  is filmed.  Shawn talked about how he has allowed Christ to guide him through his life along with his wonderful wife Donna.  A very dedicated couple who teach a divorce care class at Life Community.  Examples to all who meet them.

Linda Army who is new to the group along with her husband Tom (A Vietnam Army war veteran)  shared how they have been involved with “Wreaths Across America”.   If you don’t know about Wreaths Across America, it’s where volunteers place Christmas Wreaths on the headstones at our National Cemeteries each Christmas season, honoring the veterans who have passed on.  A great tribute each year honoring those who have served our country.  There is an event coming up on Saturday, December 13th, at the National Cemetery in Salisbury, N.C. I forgot my card at the church with more info, but I will get that info out to you.

Joe Barwick and Aaron Campbell, who work and volunteer at the VA Hospital in Kernersville, invited two of their peers to come tonight.  They spoke briefly about what they do there to assist veterans.  They are coming back to our January meeting to go more into detail on how they assist our veterans.

Please pray for Sonny Sanders, one of our Vietnam Veterans. He went to a specialist at Baptist Hospital yesterday.  At this time, the family is leaning on Sonny obtaining an LVAD pump to help circulate the blood through the heart.  Please remember Sonny and his wife as they go through this process.

Due to the hustle and bustles of Christmas there will be no December meeting.. Our next meeting will be on Thursday, January 15th, 2026.

Wishing each of you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving, a very Merry Christmas, and a prosperous New Year.

Remember JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON!

Much Love To You All,    Skip-  Semper Fidelis.   Isaiah 6:8
